About

This is the online home of a reading group in the Philosophy of History, based in Bloomsbury.

We meet on average three times a term, in different locations, on an informal basis, with readings kept short whenever possible. The group is open to anyone with an interest in historical subjects and their methodology.

Typical members of the group have been research students, staff or associates of the Birkbeck Schools of History, Philosophy, the History of Art, UCL, King’s, the Courtauld or the London Consortium. We have so far explored figures as diverse as Walter Benjamin, Hayden White and Jared Diamond. To look through previous readings please explore the blog.

The group was started in 2006 by Daniel Wilson, Birkbeck College, and is currently being run by Simon Pawley, UCL.
